Sunday Musical Interlude - Feb. 27 2011

Holy Hell it’s almost March. GDC is this upcoming week, games are starting to coming out (Only eight more days until Dragon Age 2 Day!), and my broke-college-ass has juuuust enough money to support both my gaming habit and dietary needs. So all is in balance in the world.

Including this week’s Sunday Musical Interlude, my favourite feature of which I have a sinking suspicion I’m the only one reading! It’s a labour of love, though, so I care not. On this week’s docket is another choice which could very, very easily be considered “not actual videogame music”, but I personally choose to believe I’m just expanding the definition of the genre.

That’s a credible-sounding response, right?

Anyways, If you’ve been paying attention to video games than a few weeks back you must surely have seen the trailer for Dead Island, another game in the vastly expanding “zombie genocide” genre. What you may not have seen is the endless remixing that the trailer underwent from enterprising members of “the internet”. Including this favourite of mine:

The song is of course Gary Jules’ rendition of the song “Mad World”, which has already seen a lot of video game notoriety in the past for its use in a Gears of War trailer back in the day.

Again, not video game music in the traditional sense, but it’s music, it’s video games, and it’s pretty awesome so I’m putting it up!
